BUREAU NEEDS HUNDREDS FOR CENSUS 2000

ELGIN -- Collecting data for the 2000 census is not as simple as counting one, two, three.
Just ask Census Bureau office manager Lou Roehr, who is directing the census effort throughout much of the Fox Valley.
Roehr is looking for more than 400 people to be census enumerators for McHenry, Kane and DeKalb counties.
Census 2000, the latest in the once-a-decade national head count, is the largest peacetime operation conducted by the U.S. government.
Roehr is determined that the area census office, at 385 Airport Road in Elgin, will shoulder its share of responsibilities.
