Some people may think that history is dry, printed text between the covers of a book. Rose Bucciferro is not one of them.

As the executive director of the Will County Historical Society, Bucciferro stresses the preservation of heritage is essential to a person's and to a society's present and future.

"I feel so very strongly that it is so very, very important to the basis of democracy that it is important to know from whence you came so that you can better see where you are going," said Bucciferro, 74.
