BAHRAIN NATIONAL OIL COMPANY (BANOCO)

State-owned oil company.

The Bahrain National Oil Company was established in 1976, following the decision of the government of Bahrain to assume a direct 60 percent interest in Bahrain's petroleum businesswhich previously was totally owned by Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO). By 1981, BANOCO took over the complete management and operation of offshore oil exploration, producing, and refining activities.
