Afghanistan became the focus of attention in 2001, when U.S. troops invaded the country to oust the Taliban regime and hunt for Osama bin Laden, the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
As the war in Iraq rages on, Afghanistan has faded from the headlines. But Catholic Charities' refugee program, which has settled 17 Afghan refugees since 2001, wants people to remember "the forgotten country."
