THE agonising wait is almost over for thousands of Billy Fury fans with news that a specially commissioned bronze life-size statue of the 1960s singing icon is to be unveiled on Easter weekend in Liverpool's Life Museum at the Pier Head.

Although Fury died twenty years ago from a lifelong heart complaint, the Liverpool-born crooner is now regarded as one of the greatest performers in show business.
