The early April ice storm that devastated parts of Central New York over the weekend was the result of an unfortunate clash between warm and cold air masses, meteorologists said.
When the two air masses collided Friday over a 13-county region of Upstate New York, freezing rain turned to ice that coated tree limbs, power lines and anything else exposed to the elements.
