Seeking to substantially reduce set-up/changeover times, improve machine operation and reliability, and improve part quality, one of the world's largest screw machine users achieved its goals via remanufacturing its machines.

Historically, screw machine set-up times are long compared to those for standard lathes and milling machines. This is because screw machines perform multiple operations on multiple slides and all motions are "programmed" by setting cams or cam-gear-screw combinations.
