Nigeria approves rail plan. (World Report).

THE Nigerian government has approved a $US 40 billion, 25-year plan to revitalise and expand the country's rundown 3505km 1067mm-gauge railway network. The transport minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, says he hopes that about 80% of the funds will come from sources other than the government.

The government has set up an implementation committee headed by the minister of state for transport, Alhaji Isa Yuguda. One of the committee members is from the Canadian consulting company, Canac, which was appointed by the government earlier this year to assist in improvement the management ...
