Rolling hills blanketed with oaks and evergreens. Acres of golden wheat alternating with fields of brilliant sunflowers. Rivers meandering across fertile valleys. Great food, seasonal and locally produced, with equally superb wines to wash it down. And--oh, yes--Romanesque churches, medieval villages and Renaissance masterpieces to keep you entranced. Although this idyllic description could apply to many Italian hideaways, I am writing about the world that lies outside my window in Todi, in southern Umbria.
