The pale brown, red-eyed fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, is a common pest in restaurants, grocery stores and healthcare facilities. Adults usually gather in small numbers around fruits and vegetables, but may also be attracted to indoor garbage containers, sinks (with disposals) and even wine bottles.
