VA announced in January that it will provide benefits to certain Vietnam veterans afflicted with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The ruling was based on an Institute of Medicine study that found "sufficient evidence of an association" between exposure to the chemical defoliant Agent Orange during the Vietnam War and CLL.

For Vietnam vets afflicted with CLL (a disease in which too many infection-fighting white blood cells called lymphocytes are found in the body), it means they don't have to prove the illness was related to their time in the war zone to qualify ...
