Now that ``Gods and Generals,'' the spectacular movie version of the first two years of what genteel Southern ladies used to belatedly refer to as ``The Late Unpleasantness'' is currently being projected on silver screens throughout the Hampton Roads area, it might be a good idea to feature a few humorous anecdotes concerning the divisive struggle of 1861-65 if for no other reason than to mitigate the horror it engendered.
