When Steve Stone remembers the swing era, he hears the sweet trombone of Tommy Dorsey massaging the melody of "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You."
A trombonist himself, the Emerald City Jazz Kings' leader was in high school in Klamath Falls in the 1940s when he first heard Dorsey's records.
"He was my idol," Stone says, beaming.
Stone has programmed "The Fabulous Dorseys" as the Jazz Kings' next concert, on Thursday at the John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts in Eugene. The program will survey the ...
