For whatever reason, lobstermen from Canada's Atlantic provinces are more willing to experiment with boat designs than are lobstermen from New England.
Canadian lobstermen were willing to use water jets and the rudderless hull with a cut-down keel that accompanies them. But New England fishermen have hardly shown any interest in jet propulsion. They prefer to stick instead with the traditional shafting, prop and rudder arrangement.
