Mexico has imposed a 98.8 percent emergency tariff on imports of chicken thighs and drumsticks from the United States beyond the first 50,000 tons brought in duty-free in 2003.
Mexico's National Poultry Farmers' Union requested the chicken tariff be returned to the 2001 level. Mexico's Economy Ministry said Wednesday the provision would last a minimum of six months, according to Dow Jones Business News.
