Gus Van Sant said he has no idea what to expect from Walker Art Center's retrospective of his feature films, which kicks off Wednesday with a screening of "Good Will Hunting."

He knows what is planned: nine movies over 15 days - including the local premiere of his newest drama, "Gerry" - followed by a public dialogue Feb. 28. But while that looks good on paper, Van Sant says he has no clue what it's like to take part in a retrospective.

"I've never done one," he said by phone from New York City, where he was doing promotional work ...
