ARTS DIARY: Revealed - the four faces of Henry VIII.(Features)

T WAS a little like a spot the difference contest when four paintings of Henry VIII were hung together at The Walker in Liverpool yesterday.

It was the first time all four full-length portraits of the much married English king had been seen together. The gimmick was that all four had been based on the same original created by Royal painter Hans Holbein.

Holbein had painted a dynastic mural featuring Henry, his then wife Jane Seymour and his father Henry VII. Unfortunately the mural at Whitehall was destroyed by fire in 1698.
