Increasing pressure on the oceanic world is placing a significant time burden on the Census of Marine Life, a 10-year global project. Census co-founder, Jesse Ausubel, of the Alfred P Sloan Foundation, is in Tasmania for the formation of an Australian steering committee. The Hobart-based National Oceans Office will co-ordinate Australia's contribution to the project.
