Mishap derails freight cars in rail yard.(Accidents)(Transportation: No one was hurt in the accident early Friday that caused minor damage to the cars and tracks.)

No one was injured when 10 freight cars derailed at Union Pacific's Eugene rail yard early Friday.

The accident occurred about 6 a.m. during routine switching at the yard, which runs parallel to the Northwest Expressway, said Howard Fegles, rail safety manager for the state Department of Transportation. An empty boxcar derailed, followed by nine mixed freight cars, he said.
