Paul Vincent Duhamel of Millis, a retired building contractor, died Saturday at the Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital in Milford after a brief illness. He was 83.

Born and raised in Millis, he graduated from Millis High School in 1937 where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football.

He enlisted in the Marines during World War II and participated in the battle of Guadalcanal.

In his youth, Mr. Duhamel played semi-professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Senators.
