Then: The year was 1926 and Aimee Weichsel Phelps was a teacher at Lake Junior High.
Dec. 29, 2002: Mrs. Phelps died at the age of 101. She was one year younger than the school district itself, which was created in 1902 by the 20th Amendment to the Colorado Constitution.
