Often, individuals need to make dietary changes when taking a prescribed, or even an over-the-counter, medication. Dietary changes may be necessary, too, before planned surgery.
Some interactions between foods and drugs are well known. Others have become recognized only recently. Possibilities for unwanted interactions increase as people are given multiple drugs, or as they choose to combine drugs with herbal supplements.
