EMERGING markets have rebounded strongly following a sharp decline after the 11 September terrorist attacks and are a warrant on global recovery for next year.

EMERGING markets have rebounded strongly following a sharp decline after the 11 September terrorist attacks and are a warrant on global recovery for next year.

With the exception of Argentina (down 10.7%), emerging markets have enjoyed a sharp recovery since the start of October.

While the MSCI World index has regained 8.7% since 1 October, most emerging markets have enjoyed sharper climbs. Korea, for example, regained 52.7%, Taiwan gained 30.9% and Turkey advanced by 51.6%. Meanwhile, Russia gained 26.5% and Israel 21.6%, while Mexico rose by 10.7%.
