Detroit, Mich. -- Sometimes, teacher does know best.

That was the lesson learned by Wild rookie center Rickard Wallin. After training camp, Wallin was shipped to minor league Houston even though he might have played well enough to stick with the big club.

"Obviously, I was disappointed when I was sent down," said Wallin, who made his NHL debut Thursday night. "But I think it was probably good for me to go down and get used to playing games over here."

Wallin scored his first NHL goal on his first shot, swatting a puck out of midair ...
