A spokesman from NATA warned the International Trade Commission that US diplomatic policies may keep Europe's markets closed to US trade even after the European integration scheduled for 1992. European governments strictly control product design requirements and product distribution. Vendors outside the European cartel system may be left in the cold. US diplomacy must penetrate this protectionist arrangement to open the markets.
