2002 DEC 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Results of a study in mice suggest the steroid dexamethasone may have potential as a coadjuvant to treatment for schistosomiasis.

S. Pyrrho Ad Ados and colleagues, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, studied the effects of dexamethasone on parasitological, immunological, and histological parameters in mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni (Dexamethasone, a drug for attenuation of Schistosoma mansoni infection morbidity.
