The Commission's response confirms that a laboratory of the Swiss Federal Health Office published in April 2002 scientific studies showing traces of "Norwalk-like viruses" in several brands of natural mineral water from different Member States. In co-operation with the regulatory authorities of the Member States, the Commission examined whether these studies point to a possible virological contamination of the natural mineral waters concerned and whether they pose a risk to public health.
