SEATTLE _ Jason Fife spent a healthy part of his early years playing someone else.

While growing up in Southern California, for instance, his mother helped him get a few acting jobs, including a brief speaking role in the movie "Addams Family Values" playing the part, as listed in the official credits, of "Camper No. 1."

"I had one line," said Fife, a junior quarterback at the University of Oregon. "I said, `Here they are' in this high squeal of a voice."

Later, he did commercials for foreign companies, hawking pate in Italy and shoes in Brazil.
