At hearings beginning today, the National Transportation Safety Board questioned industry and expert witnesses and released documents in the first public review of the catastrophe involving a European-made Airbus A300-600, American Airlines flight #587 that crashed November 12, 2001.
Investigators have been trying to determine why the tail fin snapped off an American Airlines jet before it crashed in New York last year, killing 265 people in the second-worst air disaster in U.S. history.
