Historically, the Regence period in France is a short one, from 1715 to 1723. When Louis XIV died, and his successor was just a boy, a regent was appointed to rule the country. Eight years later, Louis XV acceded to the throne.

From a decorative point of view, however, the Regence is a period of significant influence. One reason for this is the fact that changes in design evolve slowly and gradually.
