Your oil pressure gauge is one of the more important gauges to monitor. Since you keep a close eye on it, you probably find that pressure varies with engine operation. There are several factors that influence oil pressure. The most obvious is the oil pump and its pressure regulator set point. At low RPM, your oil pump delivers enough oil for lubrication, but the flow and pressure are low. At cruise speed, the pump is providing greater flow, and oil pressure increases (eventually to a regulated maximum). Too much pressure can cause bearing damage.
