Turkmenistan has been the second largest gas producing country in the former Soviet Union, having once produced 83.9 BCM/year. Estimates of its proven reserves of natural gas range between 100-155 TCF, with another 250-300 TCF of reserves in place said to be probable. The government says its proven recoverable reserves are 3 TCM, that the total with probable and possible reserves comes to almost 10 TCM.
