OVERSUPPLIED for most of the year, the US market for hydrochloric acid (HCl) has come back into balance, although some regions have been tight, particularly the Northeast, where a considerable amount of supply has been shut down this year. Key segments, such as oil and steel, have increased demand, and several producers have implemented price increases.
