Books are the last thing anyone expects to come from Los Angeles, for all the city's much vaunted economic diversity.
Exceptions might be made for "New Age" books on the occult, mysticism, spiritualism, crystals - the types of books found at the Bodhi Tree, the West Hollywood bookstore - but no mainstream books.
