If ever we needed a reminder that we cannot predict the future, we received it during these past 12 months. First, terrorists shook our nation and brought unwelcome changes. Then the clergy abuse crisis shook our church and made us see things we did not want to look at. We do not stand on the same ground as we did a year ago.
