Did You Know? Garter snakes are some of the most common snakes in North America. Often striped with vivid yellow, these predators are harmless to people but eagerly hunt small frogs, insects, earthworms, and rodents.

Garter snakes don't have any poison, so they have to grab their prey quickly. Then they slowly swallow it. After a large meal, a garter snake won't have to feed again for a few weeks or even months.
