PP has continued its inroads into applications where engineering and commodity plastics, and also non-plastic materials, have previously been used. Its key attributes and global availability have enabled an exceptional growth in several applications (table 1).

The major global markets for PP are flexible and rigid packaging (together 37%), followed by automotive, E+E and appliances (21%). Impressively, in third place with 18% are textile applications.
