Oil companies are showing ever more interest in West Africa's frontier countries. There is now a cluster of plans to invest more than $100 million to explore and develop in long neglected Ghana, while another oil find deep offshore Mauritania last month has further encouraged explorers, headed by Australia's Woodside. The two countries have yielded three discoveries since 2000, which have yet to be proven in commercial quantities.
