NATCHEZ - A ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 20, 2002, to celebrate the awarding of the contract to begin construction of the last 8.7 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway into Natchez. And the event will also commemorate the transfer of property that was acquired for this project by the state of Mississippi to the National Park Service, according to Natchez Trace Parkway superintendent Wendell Simpson.
