The American Bar Association recently picked a former big-city politician to break a 125-year tradition of White presidents.
Dennis Archer, a past Michigan Supreme Court justice and two-term mayor of Detroit, was elevated to president-elect of the 408,000-member association. He'll take his position as president in August 2003.
