In his original 1912 description of crystallized turquoise from Lynch Station, Virginia, Schaller stated: "The crystals are very minute and so closely grown together that it was almost impossible to obtain any suitable for measurement."

Examination of Lynch Station material that I received thirty-five years ago from mineral collector Neal Yedlin revealed that isolated single crystals to 1.0 mm were in fact present, though often partially hidden in the cavernous depressions between irregular quartz fragments.
