Sen. Edgardo J. Angara has sought a higher entry-level salary for government nurses, at least P14,000 a month, as part of the comprehensive effort to arrest the mass exodus of Filipino nurses for high-paying jobs overseas.
The entry-level pay for government nurses is only P9,039 a month.
Angara made the proposal Tuesday during the plenary debates on the proposed amendments to the Philippine Nursing Act of 1991, which he himself authored.
