AUGUST 25,2000 was the 100th anniversary of the death of Nietzsche in Weimar. To commemorate the occasion I purchased the definitive Kritische Studienausgabe of his works edited by Giorgio Colli and Mazzino Montinari. The first six volumes contain for the most part the books that Nietzsche himself completed. The next seven volumes consist of his posthumously published notebooks or Nachla[beta]. They are a gold mine.

Go digging in them and you will find priceless nuggets. Ponder, for example, this note from 1876: "Greek pederasty not unnatural, its causa finalis ...
