Flights to and from Supadio Airport, Pontianak and Miri Airport, Serawak were delayed for up to two hours on 20 August 2002 due to thick smoke from forest fires. The haze, cuased by forest fires in Kalimantan, reportedly reduced visibility to 500 meters from one kilometer forcing officials to delay domestic and international flights. Flights returned to normal after 1000 local time.
