With intensification of the AIDS epidemic, AIDS/HIV education has become a priority for health professionals and educators working with children. The increasing incidence of AIDS in adolescents and the high number of AIDS cases among people in their twenties who most likely contracted AIDS in adolescence, point to the critical importance of introducing AIDS/HIV education in the elementary school years.
