HALMAHERA has a chance to shed the

millstone of being a `nearly horse' when he lines up for the pounds 50,000 William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap, Ripon's biggest race of the season, live on Channel 4 this afternoon.

The seven-year-old comes here after finishing second in the Stewards' Cup for the third time in his career. He has also filled the same spot in another major handicap, the Wokingham.
