In 1965, the nation's first manufacturing plant dedicated to producing medium density fiberboard opened m Deposit, NY. One of the local residents who became intrigued by the new product's possibilities was master cabinetmaker Frank Kamp.
While visiting furniture plants in 1970, Kamp noticed that manufacturers were starting to use more and more components purchased from other companies. He recognized a trend and started Indian Country in 1972 in order to supply companies with value-added components, including those made with MDF.
