It's been 100 years since Frances Cabrini came to Colorado to establish an orphanage for immigrant girls; she founded a school as well as Mount Carmel Parish, one of 67 ministries she established around the world.
But Mother Cabrini did something else during her visit, an act that has made her a high-profile presence in Colorado: She bought land west of Denver to be used as a summer home for those girls, most of whom were orphans of Italian miners.
