Central New York political contests this year could involve two four-way races for Congress, Republican primaries in three local Assembly districts and matchups for all but one local state senator, according to papers filed for the first election deadline of the season.

At the end of business Friday, no candidates had surfaced to challenge Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh, state Sen. James Wright, R-Watertown, or U.S. Rep. John McHugh, R-Pierrepont Manor.
