This experiment tested to see if antioxidant compounds can prevent free-radical cell damage caused by cigarette smoke. Three groups of yeast cells were used. The first, the control group, was not treated with cigarette smoke. The second and third yeast cultures were subjected to cigarette smoke bubbled through them with a sink faucet aspirator-driven artificial smoking machine.
